Grainfed Theatre was established in 2004, after the team were brought together
for a performance of Steve Wheat’s THE LOST AND THE FOUND. The company
was born out of a desire to produce new Australian theatrical work, in
particular that of writer Steve Wheat. It is run as an independent theatre
company. The company’s first production, THE
WRITE ONE DOT COM was
a hugely successful Internet dating comedy that had a sell-out season at
Chapel Off Chapel as part of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
Since then it has produced three further Steve Wheat plays, with THE
STAFFROOM being played for a return season in 2007. The company continues to have
as its primary focus, the production of new, exciting and emotionally rewarding
theatre.
