Simon has just completed his Bachelor of Education (drama) and, armed with a satchel of newly created lesson plans, he nervously plunges into his new life as a secondary school teacher.
The play begins as Simon hesitantly steps
into that inner of all sanctums, the staffroom, where he discoverers a
most sacred place: a refuge where
teachers, freed of the restraints of instruction and supervision and
discipline, outpour their exasperations and frustrations in the most extraordinary
of ways.
From the clichéd sexist phys ed teacher to the anally retentive
deputy-principal to the eclectically eccentric science teacher to the idealistically
energetic
arts co-ordinator to the bored physics teacher who is way past his use-by-date,
Simon discovers that it’s not the just the students he needs to worry
about!
